Outdoor Lighting Design
Lighting your garden - a special event, or permanent installation
Garden and outdoor lighting is about much more than simply floodlighting large spaces. With careful, considered, creative lighting design, your garden can be given a whole new lease of life even after the sun has set. Outdoor events can also be enhanced with a beautifully lit backdrop of trees and features.
Neil Daykin can offer both permanently installed solutions, working with landscape garden designers and electrical contractors to deliver a discrete installation that will provide stunning results for years to come, or a temporary, rental based option for a one off event or party.
Neil’s strong theatrical background offers a unique style of lighting design that uses colour, light and shadow to enhance every aspect of your outdoor lighting project.
The process:
For both permanent and temporary installations, the design process is broadly the same. First, Neil will visit you to discuss your requirements and view the space. Your expectations will be established, along with any other specific requirements, such as functional area lighting and any specific features that should become focal points. As much information as possible will be gathered, including the design brief, technical aspects such as power, dimensions, access and control requirements.
For permanent installations, again, the equipment and installation work will be costed using lights specifically selected for your garden, preferred electrical contractors invited to tender, finally allowing a total costing to be produced. In addition to this, it is recommended that prior to installation, similar lighting fixtures are rented in, to allow you to get an idea of the final design. Where possible, this can be scheduled to coincide with a party or event in order to deliver maximum value for money. This provides an opportunity for any changes to be made to the design before final installation.
Following this, the design will be developed. For temporary events, all lights, cabling, control, staffing, and if required, generators will be specified and prices negotiated from preferred suppliers. Once budgets have been agreed, Neil and a team of experienced engineers will install, operate, and remove the equipment, ensuring your event runs seamlessly, with minimal impact on the site.
Because Neil is not tied to any manufacturers, rental houses or installation engineers, every aspect of your project will be specified on its own merit for each application. This gives Neil and his team the flexibility to provide exactly the right products for each unique event.
